A custom set of five medium-bandwidth filters in the wavelength range of 1-1.8µm was fabricated for the NEWFIRM camera on Mayall for the NEWFIRM Medium-Band Survey (NMBS). The J1 band is similar to the Y band, the canonical J band is split into two filters, J2 and J3, and the H band is split into two filters, H1 and H2 (see the top panel in Figure 1 of the paper).
